Working in Analog Pt2

Research:

To expand an develop the concept ideas I decided to start watching some quick resources in the discussion on the commodification of the human body.

While these are not perfect, hard researched videos, I think they give a more macro look at things then some of the specific artists we have looked at through the quarter. They also serve to alliterate some of the concepts of human commodification as well:

While these videos have to do with interpersonal relationships, I could not help expanding it to religious indoctrination. In my reflection I discuss some of the connections I am making.

Process:

This week I spent much more time with the synthesizers. I am getting a pretty good grip on how to use them. I am even beginning to form a audible narrative-like experience by having different movements in the sounds. I practiced this week with bass sounds and some pad progression. The next step will be to learn patching and to put everything together.

This week I have also incorporated using a guitar, but I have not been able to the structure of this section to where I want it. I am getting pretty comfortable with the setup process though.

I included more links to experiments.

Reflection:

Reflecting on the context I have often put my work in, the intersection of religion, indoctrination, and abuse, this has served as a microcosm of a larger problem that I late-stage-capitalism has caused. Fundamentalist religion in the United States could be viewed as religion of consumption or commodification.

I am not referring multi-million-dollar mega churches here. Instead, I am looking at what is pressed onto individuals, particularly to male-presenting people. Male presenting individuals in fundamentalist environment are trained and assessed as products. The fundamentalist ideology indoctrinates male-presenting to view themselves as products as well. They are to work, and to work hard until they cannot anymore. If they underperform there are systems in place to shame the person. I do not want to go into too much detail here. I need more academic research before I make any hard claims.
